Bernadette Smytz
Bernadette is an energetic, people-oriented physiotherapist
who is passionate in motivating clients to achieve their full
potential whatever their goal. Specialising in designing exercise-based
rehabilitation and conditioning programs, she has a special
interest in ‘low back pain’ and work injuries.
After graduating from the University of Queensland in 1986,
Bernadette relocated to London. Here she combined her natural
abilities for teaching with a career in the Fitness Industry
which complimented her physiotherapy practice. These experiences
lead her to work as a group fitness instructor at some of
London’s and Brisbane’s leading health centres.
She has been a presenter for Queensland Fitness and Health
Association workshops and a lecturer for the Institute for
Fitness Professionals in Brisbane.
Although much of her time over the last two years has been
devoted to raising her two young, active boys, Bernadette
has continued with physiotherapy consultancy and fitness instructing.
Since becoming a ‘mum’ maintaining a healthy mind
and body has never been more paramount, prompting her to pursue
training and accreditation in Pilates. In October 2004 she
graduated as a Mat Work Instructor with the Pilates Institute
of Australasia (PIA) and is currently working towards her
full certification in the Pilates Method through Pilates International.
Bernadette is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association
and a member of the Pilates Institute of Australasia.
